Wedding Photographers

Hiring professional photographers is a must for modern-day weddings, particularly if you’re looking for on-trend, informal, relaxed style coverage of your big day.

Wedding Videography

Whilst formal and posed stills will always be an important part of any wedding day celebrations, many couples are now opting for a more informal, documentary-style recording of the event, in the form of reportage, in addition to the more conventional shots.

Reportage, Photojournalism Photographers

Compared with the more traditional approach, reportage offers photographers so much more scope to capture not only the individual personalities of the bride and groom and their precious moments, but also the wonderful atmosphere, the ambience, the drama, the emotions, the amusing incidents of the overall event.

Ironically, however, this fun, inspirational and engaging type of wedding photography is far more demanding of wedding photographers than the more traditional, posed wedding stills. Inspirational photojournalism requires the skills of a practised photojournalist and definitely shouldn’t be left solely to the amateur photographers in your midst!

Combination Wedding Photography Packages

Most photographers offer a subtle blend of traditional and formal wedding poses and informal reportage; it’s up to you as a couple to decide which emphasis you want and to make your preferences clear in your first meeting with your chosen wedding photographer.

Choosing Wedding Photographers

Talk to several different photographers, before deciding; take your time browsing through their portfolios to get a feel for their style and the services they offer. Remember you only get one shot at it, literally, so your choice of wedding photographers cannot be left to chance!

Don’t Let the Photographers Take Over!

Most of us have been a guest at a wedding where everything gets ‘put on hold’ for ages while the wedding photographer takes an inordinate amount of time photographing the immediate wedding group. At best, this leaves guests at a loose end (often without a pacifying drink in hand!); at worst, it can be the dominant memory of what could otherwise have been a perfect wedding day.

To avoid this happening, the photographer needs a clear checklist of the couple’s requirements, together with the names of participants and a location plan for the formal photos, plus details of when you want the wedding photographer to shoot the formal photos, etc.

Boudoir Photography

Boudoir wedding photography is a growing trend where brides-to-be pose for a series of intimate (often scantily-clad) photos of themselves in various stages of undress in their wedding under garments. Boudoir photography sessions can be arranged before the wedding date or as part of the bridal preparations on the morning of the wedding. These images are a popular wedding gift from bride to groom.

Did you know that …

… black and white photographs are back in vogue, with wedding photographers making favourite shots available both in colour and in black and white?
